Jon/Spencer 1/1

Hi! Have a Jon/Spencer ficlet. :D

It was one thing to know that somewhere on the third floor of the hotel they were staying in there were fire extinguishers and fire exits. It was another thing to have someone grab your hand and say, "Let's find them. In case of an emergency, I want to know where to run to."

It would have made sense if the person grabbing Spencer and looking at him with wide eyes was Brendon because occasionally, Brendon liked to do strange things. Like, say, go for a walk and count how many Starbucks there were within a five block radius (Spencer had counted six, but he'd been a little too busy trying to keep Brendon from buying an espresso brownie in every one to know if that was accurate). That was just something Brendon would do. But Jon? Jon was prone to fits of restlessness and whatever, but usually he would grab Brendon and go run around for a while until it passed. This time he had grabbed Spencer and Spencer was a little confused.

"Um," he said. "You really want to walk around this place and find fire extinguishers? Are we on a scavenger hunt that I don't know about or something."

Because that had happened once. Ryan had ushered Spencer all over one of the nicer hotels they'd stayed at looking for random shit. Spencer hadn't been informed that it was a game and he spent about two hours convinced his best friend had finally gone the way of the crazy artist.

"No," Jon said, slanting an unreadable look at Spencer. "I just felt like going for a walk."

"And counting things," Spencer added.

"Yeah." Jon grinned and Spencer's stomach fluttered. "And counting things."

And okay, so Spencer wasn't going to complain that he was spending time with Jon because, and this wasn't common knowledge or anything but Ryan knew and Brendon knew so it wasn't a secret, Spencer had a crush. It was a crush he'd been cultivating for a while and it wasn't a big deal because Spencer got crushes all the time. It was just sort of whatever, sometimes Jon would laugh at something Spencer said and Spencer would feel like smiling for days and it was all in the warm and fuzzy stage, it had never crossed over to tortured angst. It was comfortable and even if Spencer didn't know why Jon wanted to spend alone time with him, it wasn't like he minded.

"Okay," Jon said almost an hour later. They'd made two tours of the floor going at a pace slightly slower than snails and they'd lost count of the fire extinguishers somewhere during a heated discussion about which of the Powerpuff Girls was the coolest. "So, say I wanted to do something, right? And you might not like it. Would you, like, punch me in the face?"
